It might be overkill, but they were well in they rights to shoot him. Here in the U.S you can use lethal force if the aggressor has a weapon that can cause great bodily harm or death.

No way was that justified!!! To use deadly force, one must be in IMMINENT danger of serious bodily injury or death. The guy with the pipe made a motion toward one of the officers, but I doubt seriously that any reasonable person would consider that an imminent threat; it's certainly not enough to justify shooting the guy 6 times!!! WTF? That cop is going to jail – guaranteed.

anyone know why after the initial 6 shots it sounded as though there were another 5 shots? is this an echo or something? and 6 shots is absolutely fucked....the guy had already recoiled after the first shot so was no longer a threat

After the first five shots the guy dropped the pipe and turned his back to the cop, who then fired five more shots. There were ten total shots. No echo, just fucked!

How about this: Don't go all bat-shit-crazy with a metal pipe and the police won't shoot you. Sounds easy enough to me. I avoid doing this everyday. I bet if he was coming at YOU with the pipe and agressive behaviour, you'd consider using lethal force.

Pipe vs gun.. You know.. One of my old friends went on a stand off with cops with a knife, even threatened them... They used a taser... and not a gun... I know all cops carry tasers.. why didn't they use theres?
